The $1 million value is not a guarantee but Ad 2’s recent pro-bono campaigns have been worth that much or more. The selected organization will receive a yearlong campaign including marketing public relations creative executions and advertising in television radio print and online. Previous years’ selectees’ missions are as diverse as gradations of color in the rainbow. Some help people with disabilities or people in crisis support education or the arts or provide food or health-care services to the needy. Ad 2 Honolulu is itself a nonprofit organization of ad industry professionals age 32 or younger. Usually flooded with applications each year Ad 2’s public service committee this year is girding for a tsunami due to the slumping economy.

com Two days after a federal judge threatened to jail former City Council member Don Hill if he violated her gag order by speaking to the press his public relations machine has roared to life. Hill’s legal team announced Wednesday that it plans to hold news briefings at the end of each day of the corruption trial beginning with opening statements Monday. Hill will not speak at these briefings according to a news release sent out by Hill’s spokesman. “We respect the [gag] order and intend to obey it” said Victor Vital attorney for Sheila Farrington Hill’s wife who is also charged in the bribery case. Vital said in an interview that the June 12 order instructs that “parties may discuss without elaboration or any kind of characterization information contained in the public record; scheduling information; and any decision or order by the court that is a matter of public record.
Records point to PR firm in ‘Twittergate’

Public relations firm Tanner Friedman won a major victory when it finally wrestled control of the @tannerfriedman Twitter account which documents show was hijacked in December by someone using a computer at rival firm Marx Layne. The firm’s first victory tweet? Advertisement “Yes it’s really us. ” Twitter a microblogging site that invites users to post thoughts and goings-on in 140 characters or less (called tweets) has revolutionized online social networking in recent months taking an increasingly active role in news dissemination and rallying efforts such as with the recent election protests in Iran. The local Twittergate scandal started in December when a person controlling the account in question started rewriting tweets from legitimate Tanner Friedman employees in unflattering ways. The firm sued the mystery tweeter (identified in the lawsuit as “John Doe”) and a judge Wednesday ruled that Twitter had to give over the account and identifying information about who started the debacle in the first place.
Graves Named to Lead gilvy Public Relations

Graves will assume the top job in January from 28-year gilvy veteran Marcia Silverman who has led the PR firm for seven years. Silverman 65 years old will become chairwoman of gilvy PR a unit of Dublin-based ad-holding company WPP PLC and one of the world’s largest public-relations outfits.
