of public relations,” he stressed. The Danmasani made the assertion at
the NIPR 2008 Corporate Dinner, Award Presentation and
Launching of Campaign organized by NIPR Kano state
chapter at Chinese Peking Restaurant last weekend.

FCR, which worked on the mandate with Citi and legal firm Allens Arthur Robinson, won the award – which is voted on by industry peers – for a “strategic approach … in a complex environment … that delivered excellent results and value for money". Coal group Resource Pacific was the target of a $591 million stock-based offer from New Hope Corporation, part of the Washington Soul Pattinson network of companies. Resources Pacific rejected that offer and then – unusually in a takeover situation – sought support from shareholders for a $165 million rights issue. New Hope’s offer was finally trumped by global resources giant Xstrata, which first lobbed a cash offer worth $960 million before increasing the offer to $1.
